Cooking Class: Pasta Making with Kyle Lore

  Make pasta from scratch.

I've always had an obsession with pasta. I am pretty sure I ate it every Saturday growing up and it was always my specialty to make it for all of my friends. When I moved out of my parents house after I graduated high school and moved into my first apartment pasta was one of my basic food groups :). I remember being a little girl in the fall time watching my mother make homemade noodles for her chicken noodle soup. As I made my list of 26 things I wanted to do before I turned 26 naturally making homemade pasta was one of them! My sister found this class in Salt Lake at Tony Caputos Market. I loved learning from chef Kyle Lore. He also taught us a few different simple sauce recipes that were divine! I have loved making it from scratch and it tastes a million times better! I will be returning to Tony Caputos for more of the cooking classes they offer. I really enjoyed cooking in a class setting.

downtown salt lake city

A few weeks ago my friend Sam and I went downtown for the afternoon and evening. We ended up renting bikes and rode all around downtown. We probably could have picked a cooler day to do it or went when the sun was down but we still had a blast! After we walked around City Creek, Temple Square & the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Even though I have been a million times it never gets old. I love the SLC Temple and love how stunning it is! After burning lots of calories from biking we went to a local joint called The Garage. They have a patio & live music and killer food. We started with the 'fried Mormon funeral potatoes' and they were to die for! I will be back just go get those. For my entree I ordered the /Black & Blue' burger that had crumbled blue cheese, bacon & peppers. It was fun to get out of my city and do something different. Love where you live, I do!

last friday night.

last friday night some friends and i decided to venture up to salt lake and give copper onion a try. the wait was pretty long so we decided to cut our time and sit at the bar. to start i got the crispy goat cheese salad that had a house gree goddess dressing (i loved it!) for my main dish i ordered the pasta carbonara which is their house made pasta that is fettuccine, smoked bacon and egg yolk. it was to die for! who can say no to house made noodles? not this girl. my friends ordered the meat loaf & the copper onion burger and enjoyed both of them. i would love to go back and try a cheese plate and venture out and try a different dish. it was a rainy night so we drove around the capital and temple square. weirdly enough i have been liking the rain storms we have been having here in utah the make for pretty pictures too :). after driving around my friends and i headed to west valley to grab a boba smoothie. i hadn't had one in a few years but i really liked it. i live for the weekends and trying new restaurants!
